Brassica
Brassica may not be the first flower you think of to include in a bouquet, but we see it becoming increasingly popular. A good reason to list all the facts for you. Moreover, we have made beautiful bouquets and arrangements using the Brassica in them, with this we would like to inspire you!
Graceful ornamental cabbage
Brassica is literally Latin for 'cabbage'. It is therefore an ornamental cabbage, but I am sure you had already seen that. It is not actually a flower, but a plant grown on long stems. It was not so long ago that it was discovered that brassica looks beautiful in a bunch of flowers! A vegetable in a bouquet, why not?
Brassica is a large and strong flower with a rustic look. But also graceful, with its striking layered 'feathers'. The Brassica is available in various inspiring colours. From white, ivory, green, vintage pink to even red/purple, they match the latest trends.
Long-lasting flower
The Brassica is a large, strong and very long-lasting flower with a characteristic appearance. Previously, Brassica was used less because it would start to smell after a while. But because the Brassica's cultivation method has been changed, the ornamental cabbage doesn't smell so quickly anymore and it is therefore fine to have this flower in the vase for longer. However, it is important to pick away the leaves growing below the edge of the stem. These can then no longer fall into the water, which can then start to smell.

Brassica grower Diunt Flowers
Diunt Flowers is a true family business. This nursery grows the robust brassica. An ornamental ornamental cabbage that is becoming increasingly popular as a flower. Whereas we are used to a family business being named after the surname, Diunt Flowers got its name from the place where they started the nursery. Frank Jansen is an enthusiastic grower following in his parents' footsteps. We are happy to tell you more about this grower.

Empire
Notable is the Empire series with a wide range in different appearances. We would like to highlight some of them for you:
Brassica Empire Akilina has jagged white leaves with green outer leaves and -in a later stage- a light purple blush in the core.
Brassica Empire Agathana has white leaves with fresh green outer leaves and -at a later stage- a light pink blush in the centre. The leaves are round and form a compact rosette, with leaf discolouration of medium to late speed.
Brassica Empire Bogdana is a strongly fringed ornamental cabbage with a beautiful bright purple/red colour and dark green outer leaves. Leaf discolouration is medium to late speed.
Symbolic meaning
Brassica is sturdy and long-lasting, which makes it a symbol of perseverance and strength. This makes it ideal to give with an anniversary. But it also symbolises abundance and happiness. The flower is therefore also often associated with prosperity and wealth.
Getting started with Brassica!
So we can safely conclude that the Brassica is a sturdy and graceful flower to work with. A surprising eye-catcher that adds colour to an interior but is also suitable for cool outdoor decorations. We are curious about your creations. Feel free to share them with us on our FlowerFriends community.
